Lin Kuo-chang of the Democratic Progressive Party holds the leading market position as the Yilan County Magistrate race heads toward the November 28 vote. KMT legislator Wu Tsung-hsien secured the opposition nomination after a May joint KMT-TPP poll showed him narrowly trailing Lin in head-to-head matchups while outperforming alternative Chen Wan-hui. Earlier polling from March similarly placed Lin ahead but within a competitive margin. The contest remains fluid due to potential coalition coordination between the KMT and TPP, undecided voter blocs in this eastern county, and the impact of national political trends on local turnout. Scheduled campaign events and any late shifts in cross-strait or domestic policy focus could alter the current trader consensus reflected in the probabilities.
