Pavel Kotov enters the Busan Challenger round of 32 on outdoor hard courts as the clear trader favorite over Yi Zhou, driven by his superior ATP ranking around the top 250, career-high No. 50 peak, and consistent Challenger-level experience against Zhou's No. 220 standing and recent string of round-of-32 losses on hardcourts, including defeats to lower-ranked opponents like Ognjen Milic and Kody Pearson. No prior head-to-head exists, with both right-handers relying on strong serves—Kotov's higher first-serve points won (82% in the match stats preview) a key differentiator. Pre-match injury reports were clear for both, though humid Busan conditions could test endurance; recent form favors Kotov amid Zhou's 0-for-5 skid in main draw openers.
