Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a Chicago minimum temperature in the mid-50s°F on September 23, driven by persistent northeasterly flow advecting cooler continental air under mostly cloudy skies and light winds. This setup follows several days of below-normal readings and contrasts with the historical average low near 55.5°F. Lake Michigan moderation and potential for partial clearing introduce uncertainty in the exact overnight minimum, while longer-range ensembles show modest warming potential if ridging builds. With leading market-implied probabilities split near 50% between sub-47°F and 66°F+ outcomes, traders appear focused on the narrow range of plausible model solutions and the final 48-hour forecast adjustments from NOAA.
