Esteban “Steve” Guerra holds a commanding lead in the 2026 Cameron County Judge general election market as the Democratic nominee facing Republican Mauro Garza on November 3. Traders reflect the county’s consistent Democratic voting patterns in recent cycles, Guerra’s May runoff victory over three-term incumbent Eddie Trevino Jr. by a 55-45 margin, and his profile as Port of Brownsville board chairman. Garza, who secured the Republican nomination without a contested primary, lacks comparable local elected experience. The wide spread aligns with historical base rates for partisan countywide races in the area. Late shifts remain possible through changes in voter turnout, border-related issues, or unforeseen campaign developments before Election Day.
