PSG's projected dominance as five-time defending champions and overwhelming title favorites has opened a broad, competitive field for the 2026-27 Ligue 1 runner-up spot. A cluster of clubs including Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, and Monaco enter with comparable squad depth, recent European experience, and pre-season reinforcements, while promoted sides like Le Mans and Troyes add further uncertainty. Managerial transitions at several clubs and the summer transfer window's impact on mid-table and top-six contenders have kept implied probabilities tightly bunched, reflecting trader consensus on the absence of a clear second-place frontrunner ahead of the August kickoff.
