This market will resolve according to the winner of the Chess tournament at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC 2026), currently scheduled for August 11, 2026 to August 15, 2026. If this tournament is postponed after August 29, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, canceled, or a winner has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other." If multiple players are declared winner, this market will resolve in favor of the player whose listed name comes first alphabetically. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the tournament organizer, the Esports World Cup (https://esportsworldcup.com); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Magnus Carlsen holds a 100% implied probability in the EWC Chess 2026 winner market due to his status as the defending champion from the 2025 edition and commanding lead in the ongoing grand final against Denis Lazavik. The 22-player field in Paris featured a double-elimination group stage followed by playoffs at 10+0 time control, with Carlsen advancing through quarterfinal and semifinal matches while demonstrating superior endgame technique and consistency against elite competition including Hikaru Nakamura and Alireza Firouzja. As the top-ranked player with extensive Champions Chess Tour experience and recent title defenses, trader consensus reflects his established edge in rapid formats and head-to-head results. An improbable multi-game comeback by Lazavik remains the only realistic path to altering the outcome before resolution.
