**Multiple Republican candidates are competing in Louisiana’s open 5th congressional district following Julia Letlow’s decision to run for U.S. Senate.** Redistricting after the Supreme Court’s ruling in *Louisiana v. Callais* altered boundaries and drew additional contenders into the race, including state Sen. Stewart Cathey and state Rep. Gabe Firment. The November 3 jungle primary requires a candidate to secure more than 50 percent of the vote to win outright; otherwise, the top two advance to a December 12 runoff. With the Republican vote split across several hopefuls and Democratic candidates also on the ballot, recent qualifying activity and the open-seat dynamics point to a fragmented field. Traders therefore assign a high implied probability that no candidate will clear the majority threshold in the first round.
