Incumbent Democrat Bill Keating holds a commanding position in the Massachusetts 9th congressional district race, backed by the seat’s D+6 Cook Partisan Voting Index and the party’s consistent performance in recent cycles. The district, covering parts of the South Shore and Cape Cod, has delivered Democratic victories in every election since the current boundaries took effect, with Keating securing 56 percent in the 2024 general election. With the September 1 primary and November general election still months away, no major shifts in voter registration, polling, or candidate dynamics have altered the structural advantage. Republican nominee Robert MacAllister faces a steep path in a district rated Solid Democratic by major forecasters. A late development such as a Keating retirement, significant scandal, or unusual turnout surge could narrow the gap, though such scenarios remain low-probability based on current conditions.
