Recent UK CPI data show inflation easing to 2.6% in the 12 months to June 2026, below the Bank of England’s earlier projections, amid falling services and food price pressures. However, the BoE’s July Monetary Policy Report highlights an anticipated pickup to around 3.2% by Q4 2026, driven by indirect effects from elevated global energy prices linked to Middle East conflict, alongside memory chip cost pressures and imported inflation. With Bank Rate held at 3.75% and labor market slack limiting second-round effects, market-implied odds reflect uncertainty over whether annual 2026 inflation settles near recent lows or climbs toward 4%. Traders are pricing in the balance between near-term disinflation momentum and persistent supply-side risks through year-end.
