Apple faces steep regulatory and geopolitical barriers to sourcing DRAM from CXMT, China's leading memory maker on the Pentagon's 1260H blacklist over alleged military ties. Despite lobbying the Trump administration for clearance amid AI-driven price spikes and beginning limited testing of CXMT chips for China-market devices, Apple has secured no broad approvals and confronts congressional opposition plus Entity List risks that could block deals. CXMT's fabs operate near full capacity through 2027 with output largely committed to domestic buyers, limiting any near-term volume for Apple beyond potential small-scale qualification. These constraints sustain trader consensus favoring no qualifying 2026 purchases or announcements.
