Lionel Messi's inclusion in Argentina's official 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, announced in late May, anchors the overwhelming 99.1% market-implied probability for a "Yes" outcome. Recent training sessions in Kansas City, clearance from minor muscle fatigue, and a structured recovery plan ahead of the June 16 opener against Algeria reinforce trader confidence in his participation as captain. At 38, Messi's strong Inter Miami form and desire to compete in a record sixth tournament align with historical patterns of veteran stars suiting up when fit. The only plausible disruptions involve an unforeseen injury in the final hours before kickoff or an abrupt fitness-related withdrawal, both viewed as remote given confirmed preparations and the tournament's imminent start.
