**South Africa Women defeated Pakistan Women by two wickets** in their ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Group 1 clash at Edgbaston on June 17, chasing 127 after Pakistan posted 126/9. Annerie Dercksen's unbeaten half-century proved decisive in a tense finish, while Marizanne Kapp's 3/23 restricted Pakistan and Fatima Sana's all-round effort (55* and 3/16) kept Pakistan competitive. Both sides entered off opening losses—South Africa to Australia and Pakistan in their prior fixture—making the result critical for net run rate and standings momentum. South Africa hold a strong historical edge, having won 15 of 27 prior T20Is against Pakistan, with superior depth in pace bowling and middle-order stability often proving decisive in similar conditions. Trader sentiment typically reflected these factors alongside recent series form and squad fitness news heading into the match.
