The Copom’s most recent 25-basis-point cut to 13.75% in mid-September, combined with inflation running at 4.22% year-over-year and market expectations for 2026 IPCA near 4.9–5.0%—still above the 3% target—has anchored trader sentiment toward no change at the December meeting. Persistent services prices, elevated medium-term expectations, and post-election fiscal uncertainty have tempered optimism for further easing despite moderating economic activity and five prior cuts totaling 125 basis points. The 53% implied probability of unchanged policy reflects this data-dependent caution, while the 25.5% odds of a 25-basis-point reduction price in limited room for one final calibration before year-end. Global volatility and resilient labor conditions add to the balanced risk outlook ahead of key inflation and activity releases.
