The tight clustering around 49–49.5% for dozens of quarterbacks underscores how Week 2 interceptions remain highly variable and matchup-dependent. No single passer enters with a pronounced edge after Week 1, as offensive-line continuity, defensive pressure packages, and weather variables can swing turnover totals dramatically from one slate to the next. Recent roster moves, including backup elevations and scheme tweaks under new coordinators, further flatten the field by creating comparable risk profiles across starters and spot players alike. Historical patterns show that even low-INT veterans like Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson can post multi-turnover outings against aggressive secondaries, while mobile or inexperienced options face similar exposure in adverse conditions. This broad parity sustains the compressed pricing as traders price in the inherent randomness of a single week’s passing volume.
