Centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Tom Blundell, plus a near-century from debutant Dean Foxcroft, powered a 490-run declaration, while seamer Nathan Smith’s 6 for 40 triggered Ireland’s collapse to 179 before the follow-on. Ireland entered the match hampered by multiple injuries to key players and limited recent red-ball exposure, widening the gap in experience and depth. With New Zealand already securing an innings victory, only extraordinary late collapses or unforeseen conditions could have altered the outcome, underscoring the wide disparity reflected in trader consensus.
