Jannik Sinner leads Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 5-7, 4-2 in their Italian Open semifinal, with play suspended by rain and set to resume Saturday afternoon in Rome. Sinner dominated the opening set on clay before fitness concerns emerged, including visible discomfort, vomiting, and a medical timeout for right-knee treatment during the third set, prompting criticism from Medvedev over potential cramping rules. The world No. 1 has compiled a strong recent record on the surface despite occasional physical lapses, while Medvedev showed improved clay form by rallying past Martin Landaluce in the quarterfinals but trails heavily in head-to-head results. Home-crowd support and Sinner’s overall dominance create a favorable setup, though the tight scoreline and ongoing recovery demands introduce variability in the deciding set.
