Neymar's ongoing grade-two calf strain, sustained in mid-May while playing for Santos, has raised significant doubts about his availability and sharpness for Brazil's 2026 World Cup opener against Morocco and potentially beyond, compounding a history of major injuries that limited him to just 15 appearances this season. At 34, the veteran forward faces a compressed recovery timeline ahead of a demanding tournament schedule. In contrast, 25-year-old Vinicius Jr. enters the competition in strong recent form with Real Madrid, having contributed multiple goals and assists in the closing weeks of the club season while maintaining full fitness and regular playing time. Traders view Vinicius as the more reliable goal threat over the full tournament due to his consistent involvement in Brazil's attack and lower injury risk.
