Mertens and Shnaider enter as favorites in this Cincinnati Open women's doubles round-of-32 match on hard courts, reflecting trader consensus around their stronger combined doubles pedigree and recent hard-court results. Mertens brings proven net play and multiple Grand Slam titles, while Shnaider adds baseline power and athleticism from her rising singles ranking. Chan and Joint counter with Chan’s veteran doubles savvy and Joint’s recent pairing momentum from events like Toronto and Memphis, though the duo shows less established synergy. Head-to-head records sit roughly even, and both sides lack reported injuries, keeping focus on form, serve returns, and potential fatigue from the North American swing. Surface speed and early-round variance remain key variables.
