Fred VanVleet's decision to exercise his $25 million player option for the 2026-27 season with the Houston Rockets underpins the market's 90% implied probability for that outcome. The veteran point guard, recovering from a torn ACL that sidelined him for all of 2025-26, has ramped up rehab under Houston's staff and expressed commitment to contributing as a floor general alongside Alperen Sengun and Kevin Durant. Roster continuity, his history of 386 three-pointers in two prior seasons with the team, and limited reported interest elsewhere have shaped trader consensus around his return. Potential shifts could arise from a midseason trade, significant injury setback, or unexpected free-agency pivot if contract restructuring talks alter his status before the October 31 resolution window.
