Major tech firms are accelerating plans for orbital AI infrastructure amid terrestrial power and land constraints, with SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Google leading filings and prototypes. Starcloud's late-2025 partnership with Crusoe and successful NVIDIA H100 training of an LLM in orbit mark early operational milestones, while Google's Project Suncatcher targets 2027 test satellite launches with Planet Labs for solar-powered TPU constellations. SpaceX and Blue Origin have pursued FCC approvals for massive satellite networks potentially delivering gigawatts of compute via laser links, capitalizing on falling launch costs. These developments, alongside startup proposals for tens of thousands of nodes, shape trader views on timelines, though radiation hardening, inter-satellite bandwidth, and regulatory hurdles remain key variables ahead of 2027 demonstrations.
