Detroit Tigers (19-22, third in AL Central) hold a slight edge over the injury-plagued New York Mets (15-25, last in NL East) in the second game of their Citi Field interleague series, pitting probable starter Framber Valdez (2-2, 4.57 ERA) against Christian Scott amid both teams' rotation crises. Tigers placed OF Kerry Carpenter on the 10-day IL May 10 with a left AC sprain, joining Casey Mize and Justin Verlander on the shelf, while Mets miss Kodai Senga (back), Jorge Polanco (Achilles), and Luis Robert Jr. (lumbar). Detroit's poor road splits (7-16 away) clash with New York's home woes (6-12), under mild 62-degree weather with light outfield winds; recent 4-6 and 5-5 forms signal a tight, unpredictable matchup reflecting trader caution on health and momentum.
