Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free agency has stretched into August with no resolution, as the Atlanta Hawks declined his $24.3 million team option and his market has softened below initial expectations. Multiple suitors, including the Cleveland Cavaliers offering their mid-level exception and the Los Angeles Lakers pursuing a two-year deal near $20 million or a stalled sign-and-trade, have kept interest fragmented. Cap constraints, Kuminga’s preference for higher annual salary, and the need for three-year deals in potential trades have limited momentum for any single team. This broad but shallow field of candidates, including the Minnesota Timberwolves and others with modest reported ties, has produced closely bunched implied probabilities reflecting trader views of evenly matched uncertainty across contenders.
