Marcus Smart's decision to decline his $5.4 million player option with the Lakers and enter unrestricted free agency has created a wide-open market for the three-time All-Defense guard seeking a longer-term deal. Multiple teams view his perimeter defense, playmaking, and veteran leadership as valuable additions amid roster-building around young cores or playoff pushes, with recent reports highlighting potential fits like the Rockets due to ties with coach Ime Udoka. The tight clustering of implied probabilities near 50% across more than two dozen teams reflects the wisdom of crowds in a fluid situation where cap space, coaching schemes, and competitive balance keep outcomes highly uncertain without a dominant frontrunner.
