Both teams enter 2026 amid major transitions that heighten uncertainty for their two regular-season meetings. The Dolphins are in a full rebuild under new head coach Jeff Hafley and starting quarterback Malik Willis, following the departure of key offensive weapons and a lopsided Week 1 loss to the Raiders that exposed roster turnover and defensive questions. The Jets opened 1-0 with Geno Smith under center and Frank Reich coordinating the offense but face early injury concerns at safety and wide receiver. Traders see a split series as the most probable outcome given comparable projected talent levels, difficult schedules, and ample time between the October and November games for roster or performance shifts to alter momentum.
