Switzerland’s November 29, 2026, referendum features four measures: a mandatory constitutional amendment to raise VAT by 0.4 percentage points for financing the 13th monthly AVS pension payment, a popular initiative for broad restrictions on fireworks sales and use, a Centre Party initiative to restore joint federal taxation for married couples and eliminate the marriage penalty, and an optional referendum on parliament’s easing of rules for war materiel exports and re-exports. These ballots reflect ongoing debates over fiscal sustainability of social insurance, environmental and nuisance regulation, tax equity, and arms export policy within Switzerland’s system of popular initiatives and referendums. Recent 2026 votes, including rejection of the population-cap initiative, highlight voter caution toward measures perceived to risk economic openness or EU ties, while September’s neutrality and food-security ballots may influence campaign momentum and turnout. Passage depends on popular and, where required, cantonal majorities.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed referendum is approved under the applicable legal threshold in the specified popular vote. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.”
This market will resolve to “Yes” if either the popular initiative or, where applicable, the federal counter-proposal is approved under the applicable legal threshold, regardless of any tie-breaker vote.
If the referendum is officially rescheduled, the same rule applies to the new ballot and its corresponding deadlines.
