Real Madrid and Barcelona enter the 2026-27 La Liga campaign as the clear frontrunners for the runner-up spot, with their implied probabilities sitting within five points of each other. Barcelona arrive as defending champions after back-to-back titles under Hansi Flick, powered by Lamine Yamal’s continued excellence and squad depth that has delivered strong recent league form. Real Madrid countered with aggressive summer activity, adding Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, and others while installing José Mourinho and securing Vinicius Jr.’s long-term extension, bolstering their attacking and defensive options. This combination of Barcelona’s historical edge and Madrid’s reinforcements keeps the race for second place highly contested, with Atlético Madrid and the rest of the field well behind in trader consensus.

If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to finish as runner-up of LaLiga for the 2026-27 season per the rules of LaLiga (e.g., the participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No".
If multiple teams are declared as second-place finishers, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically.
If this event is cancelled, postponed after July 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a runner-up has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The resolution source will be official information from the LaLiga; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
