The 2026–27 Ligue 2 campaign opened on August 8 with a crowded field of clubs carrying promotion ambitions, producing the tight market for runner-up. Several sides relegated from Ligue 1—Nantes, Reims, Montpellier, Metz, and Saint-Étienne—bring greater squad depth, infrastructure, and recent top-flight experience, yet none has pulled clear after the opening fixtures. Simultaneously, established second-tier performers such as Red Star, Rodez, Annecy, Dunkerque, and Guingamp posted competitive early results and retain momentum from prior seasons. Newly promoted Boulogne and clubs like Nancy, Clermont, and Grenoble add further parity. With no dominant favorite and a long schedule ahead, traders see realistic paths to second place for a broad group of teams, keeping implied probabilities clustered.

If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to finish as runner-up of Ligue 2 for the 2026-27 season per the rules of Ligue 2 (e.g., the participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No".
If multiple teams are declared as second-place finishers, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically.
If this event is cancelled, postponed after July 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a runner-up has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The resolution source will be official information from the Ligue 2; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
