Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund lead the implied probabilities near 50% entering the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign, which begins August 28, reflecting their strong defensive foundations from 2025-26 when Dortmund conceded a league-low 34 goals and posted 15 clean sheets while Bayern allowed 36. Dortmund's backline stability under Niko Kovac, anchored by Gregor Kobel, and Bayern's additions such as Nathaniel Brown support this positioning. The market remains tightly bunched across a dozen sides because Bundesliga defensive outcomes depend heavily on squad depth, goalkeeper consistency, and fixture congestion, with clubs like Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, and mid-table sides such as SC Freiburg and Werder Bremen carrying realistic potential based on recent form and roster continuity. No team enters with an overwhelming edge in shutout projections.
