Gian van Veen holds a narrow 52.5% implied probability edge over Raymond Smith in their World Series of Darts matchup due to the Dutchman's elite ranking at world No. 3, recent runner-up finish at the 2026 PDC World Championship, and consistent performances across major events. Smith, an Australian qualifier, has shown upset potential with a strong 6-2 first-round win over Stephen Bunting at the New Zealand Darts Masters and solid domestic results, creating balance in a format where leg-by-leg variance and checkout efficiency can quickly shift momentum. Head-to-head history is limited, but van Veen's superior averaging and experience in high-stakes ties against top competition offset Smith's recent form and regional familiarity, leaving room for late adjustments if either player shows improved finishing or faces fatigue from the schedule.
