Arman Tsarukyan entered UFC 331 as the clear lightweight contender favorite against Mauricio Ruffy after a short-notice opponent change from Charles Oliveira, with the co-main event positioned as a statement opportunity following Tsarukyan’s prior title-shot withdrawal and limited activity. Ruffy brought momentum from back-to-back knockouts but faced a stylistic test against Tsarukyan’s wrestling and clinch work in the five-round bout at Crypto.com Arena. Traders monitored pre-fight commentary expectations around Tsarukyan’s title aspirations versus Justin Gaethje, his grappling advantage, and any references to Ruffy’s power or recent finishes. The fight’s early resolution via elbow KO at 4:56 in round one, including visible swelling on Tsarukyan and post-fight belt gestures, shaped likely announcer focus on the finish quality and contender implications.
