Aleksandar Vukic faces higher-ranked Daniel Altmaier in the first round of the 2026 National Bank Open on outdoor hard courts in Montreal. Altmaier enters ranked around No. 60-62 with a 12-21 record this season, while Vukic sits near No. 101-105 after a 4-10 start. Recent hard-court results give Vukic momentum, including straight-set wins over Tomas Barrios Vera and Zachary Svajda in the lead-up. Historical head-to-head favors Vukic, with Altmaier seeking his first victory in what would be their third meeting. Both players have shown inconsistency in 2026, making serve consistency, return efficiency, and adaptation to Montreal conditions key variables that could shift the closely contested outcome.
