The Tampa Bay Rays enter this AL East matchup as division leaders with a 76-53 record, bolstered by strong overall pitching and a favorable home/away split, while the Baltimore Orioles sit last in the division at 63-67 amid a rash of injuries to key contributors like Félix Bautista, Blaze Alexander, and Ryan Mountcastle. Recent series play has featured tight contests, with the Orioles securing extra-inning wins and showing resilience despite roster challenges, including multiple players on rehab assignments. Rays injuries to starters like Griffin Jax and relievers further test depth, but their form and schedule position sustain market expectations of competitiveness. Outdoor conditions at Camden Yards and bullpen availability remain factors for the August 23 contest.
