Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance for New York City on September 21 shows maximum temperatures clustered between 68–71°F amid a post-frontal regime. A coastal low and associated rain on September 20 will give way to northerly flow behind the front, promoting modest cooling while limiting full clearing and allowing some residual moisture. Ensemble spreads remain tight because steering patterns and boundary-layer mixing are only modestly uncertain, keeping the 68–69°F and 70–71°F bins nearly tied in trader pricing. Updated morning soundings and short-range guidance expected over the next 48 hours will narrow the range further as the precise timing of cloud erosion becomes clearer.
