Paris Saint-Germain enter the 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign as five-time defending champions and overwhelming favorites to secure one of the league’s three automatic UEFA Champions League league-phase berths, bolstered by summer reinforcements including Ferran Torres. Marseille, Monaco, Lens, Lille, and Lyon represent the primary challengers for the remaining top-four positions, with the fourth-placed side entering the Champions League third qualifying round. Pre-season transfer activity, squad depth, and historical home/away records shape early market positioning ahead of the August 21 kickoff. Schedule congestion from European ties and potential injuries to key players could influence mid-season standings shifts, while promoted sides like Angers and Auxerre face steeper paths to European contention.
