The 2026–27 Ligue 1 campaign has just begun, with all clubs level on points and the Conference League play-off spot projected for sixth or seventh place depending on the Coupe de France winner’s final standing. Traditional European contenders such as Monaco, Marseille, Lens, Lille, Lyon, and Nice enter with the strongest squads and recent European experience, while promoted sides and mid-table clubs like Le Havre or Lorient face steeper paths. Pre-season transfers, managerial stability, and opening fixtures will shape early momentum, as will the typical variance in form that often sees one or two overachievers occupy the European places by the winter break. Head-to-head records and home/away splits remain relevant once the schedule intensifies.
