Recent inclusion of Lionel Messi in Argentina’s 55-man preliminary roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has anchored trader confidence at a 95% implied probability for his participation. Coach Lionel Scaloni has repeatedly emphasized that the decision rests with the 38-year-old captain, who continues to feature in friendlies and maintain peak form with Inter Miami. Teammate Rodrigo De Paul’s recent confirmation of joint training sessions for the North American tournament further reinforces the sense of momentum. While Messi has stated he will play only if fully fit, historical precedent and the absence of any injury concerns or retirement signals keep the market heavily skewed toward a “Yes” outcome ahead of the June kickoff.
