Virginia’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment cleared its final legislative hurdles when the General Assembly approved it for a second time in January 2026, following the required intervening election, and Governor Spanberger signed the enabling legislation in February. Legal challenges to ballot placement were largely resolved after a trial court dismissal in July 2026, leaving the measure on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Early 2025–2026 polling from the Wason Center and Virginia Commonwealth University showed consistent majority support in the 61–66% range, driven by broad backing for constitutional protections on abortion access, contraception, and fertility care amid Virginia’s existing third-trimester framework. These factors have shaped trader consensus around high passage odds for the legislatively referred measure.
