Seattle Orcas defeated defending champions Washington Freedom by five wickets in the MLC 2026 opener at Grand Prairie Stadium on June 19-20, chasing 217 after Freedom posted 216. Ottneil Baartman’s four-wicket haul restricted the batting order, while Tim Seifert’s 78 and Matthew Breetzke’s 66 powered the chase with 14 balls remaining. Freedom’s top order, including contributions from Mitchell Owen and Mark Chapman, struggled to defend the total against Orcas’ aggressive T20 approach. The sides meet again on June 25 in Oakland, where venue conditions, recent form, and potential squad adjustments could influence outcomes in this T20 contest.
