Javokhir Sindarov holds a clear edge in the 2026 World Chess Championship market after delivering a record-breaking performance at the FIDE Candidates Tournament in April, finishing undefeated on 10/14 with six wins to secure the challenger spot with a round to spare. The 20-year-old Uzbek grandmaster has since climbed into the live top five in ratings and shown strong recent results in rapid and blitz formats against Gukesh. Defending champion Gukesh Dommaraju, meanwhile, has dealt with inconsistent form through early 2026, posting multiple losses in classical events and dropping in the rankings before adjusting his schedule to prioritize preparation. Traders view Sindarov’s momentum and head-to-head resilience in non-classical play as the primary drivers behind the current 62.5% to 36.5% split.
