The uncertainty around Patrick Mahomes’ recovery from a torn ACL and LCL sustained in December continues to drive trader positioning for the Chiefs’ Week 1 starting quarterback role. Positive rehab updates from Andy Reid and team officials, combined with Mahomes’ expected participation in late-May OTAs, support his current 60 percent implied probability as the frontrunner. Kansas City addressed depth by signing veteran Justin Fields this offseason and adding a late-round draft pick, elevating Fields, Gardner Minshew, Joe Flacco, and Chris Oladokun as realistic options should Mahomes miss time or ease back gradually. Recent schedule announcements placing the Chiefs in multiple primetime slots reflect league optimism about his availability, yet the nine-month recovery timeline leaves room for continued market volatility heading into training camp.
