The 2026-27 LaLiga campaign opened with widespread uncertainty around the 17th-place finish, as multiple clubs share near-even implied probabilities. Recent history of razor-thin relegation scraps—where teams needed at least 42 points to survive—combined with the promotion of Deportivo La Coruña, Málaga, and Racing Santander has created a crowded mid-to-lower table. Early results show Deportivo adapting quickly while sides like Elche, Sevilla, and Valencia struggle with form and squad depth. Pre-season models flagged these teams plus Espanyol and Osasuna for elevated risk due to fixture difficulty, limited reinforcements, and internal issues, leaving the exact cutoff position highly contested until more matchweeks clarify momentum and injury situations.
