The 2026-27 Serie A campaign opens with an unusually congested race for third place, as Napoli, Roma, Inter Milan, Bologna and several others cluster within a narrow band of implied probabilities. Defending champions Inter strengthened their backline and midfield with additions like John Stones and Curtis Jones while retaining core attackers, yet no side has pulled clear after last season’s 11-point title margin. Roma, Juventus, Napoli under Massimiliano Allegri, AC Milan with new investment and Como all possess balanced squads capable of sustained top-four pushes, supported by varied transfer activity and coaching continuity. Early-season results and fixture congestion in European competitions further flatten distinctions among these clubs, leaving third place dependent on consistency across 38 rounds rather than any decisive pre-season edge.
