Recent tame producer price inflation data has bolstered S&P 500 momentum near record levels around 7,800, with SPY trading near 776–778 as softer wholesale prices reduced near-term Federal Reserve rate-hike odds. The central bank held the funds rate at 3.5–3.75% in its July decision amid a divided 9-3 vote, underscoring ongoing inflation vigilance versus labor-market cooling evident in July employment figures. Equity traders are pricing in continued AI-driven sector strength and limited policy tightening ahead of the September FOMC meeting, while monitoring this week's Empire State Manufacturing and NAHB housing releases for directional signals. Historical August seasonality adds modest volatility risk to short-term index levels.
