Jannik Sinner holds a 6-2, 5-7, 4-2 lead in the rain-suspended Italian Open semifinal against Daniil Medvedev, with play resuming Saturday on the clay courts at Foro Italico. Sinner enters on a 27-match Masters 1000 winning streak after defeating Andrey Rublev in straight sets, seeking his first Rome title and a career Golden Masters sweep. Medvedev, a former Rome champion, advanced by outlasting a younger opponent but trails in a head-to-head Sinner leads 9-7 overall, including the last four encounters; the pair has never met on clay. Sinner’s superior recent form and ranking points momentum contrast with Medvedev’s experience on the surface, while the third-set resumption and any lingering physical concerns from Friday’s medical timeout add uncertainty to the outcome.
