Füchse Berlin entered the Handball-Bundesliga opener against MT Melsungen with notable roster challenges after a lopsided Supercup defeat to SC Magdeburg, including absences for Nils Lichtlein following foot surgery and Fabian Wiede’s ongoing knee recovery, which left a thin backcourt reliant on Mathias Gidsel, Matthes Langhoff, and Tobias Gröndahl. Melsungen countered with Johannes Golla’s return and new signing Daniel Dujshebaev, bolstering depth and experience for a competitive away side. Home advantage in the Max-Schmeling-Halle and motivation to avoid an early stumble created balance, reflected in the even trader consensus. Developments such as confirmed lineups, late fitness updates for key returnees, or shifts in defensive execution could alter momentum in either direction.
