The S&P 500 recently reached fresh all-time highs near 7,799 on August 13 before closing at 7,785.76 on August 14, supported by softer-than-expected producer price inflation that reduced near-term rate-hike odds and lifted risk appetite in technology and semiconductor stocks. Year-to-date gains stand around 14 percent amid resilient corporate earnings, with analysts projecting over 20 percent full-year growth for S&P 500 companies. The Federal Reserve held the funds rate steady at 3.50–3.75 percent in July, and markets currently price in roughly a 63 percent chance of no change at the September meeting. Key near-term catalysts for the week of August 17 include housing starts, industrial production, Empire State Manufacturing data, and import prices, which could influence rate expectations and volatility around current elevated valuations.
