Recent hardware cost analyses and supply chain reports have pushed trader expectations higher, with component pricing for the Steam Machine's AMD Zen 4 CPU, RDNA 3 GPU, RAM, and SSD now estimated at roughly $700 before assembly, packaging, and margins. Ongoing memory and storage shortages, which prompted Valve's earlier 2026 delay announcement, continue to elevate bill-of-materials expenses and reduce the likelihood of aggressive undercutting. Leaks suggesting a potential $600–$650 base model have been widely viewed as optimistic or loss-leader scenarios, while credible estimates cluster around $799–$999 for the 512GB and 2TB variants. With Valve historically avoiding sustained hardware subsidies, the 78.5% market-implied probability for a $700-or-higher launch price reflects this consensus. The next key catalyst remains Valve's expected price and release-date confirmation, anticipated in the coming weeks.
