Incumbent Robert Luna advanced from the June 2026 primary with roughly 44% of the vote to face former sheriff Alex Villanueva in the November 3 runoff, establishing a clear lead in trader consensus. Luna’s primary performance against a field of eight challengers, including several current or former department personnel, reinforced his position as the sitting officeholder seeking re-election. Villanueva’s second-place finish revived the 2022 matchup but at lower implied probability, reflecting limited momentum since his earlier defeat. No major campaign developments or polling shifts have emerged in the intervening weeks to alter the positioning ahead of the general election.
