Diplomatic developments between Washington and Tehran have shaped recent rial volatility, with President Trump halting planned U.S. strikes in mid-June citing progress toward a memorandum on nuclear limits, sanctions, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Ongoing talks through late May and early June produced conflicting statements on uranium enrichment curbs and relief measures, leaving traders focused on whether any interim agreement materializes before month-end. Persistent U.S. sanctions, elevated Iranian inflation above 65 percent, and parallel-market rates fluctuating near 1.7 million rials per dollar underscore structural pressures, while any verifiable sanctions easing or export resumption could alter near-term exchange dynamics ahead of the June 30 resolution window.
