If any NATO member country invokes Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty at any time between November 5, 2025 and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Yes". Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from NATO (nato.int), however a consensus of credible media will also suffice.**Traders assign a 94.3% probability to "No" on NATO Article 5 invocation before the end of 2026 because current conflicts and tensions remain below the threshold for collective defense activation.** Russia’s war against Ukraine continues through hybrid and gray-zone operations—such as sabotage, cyberattacks, and influence campaigns—rather than direct strikes on NATO territory that would meet the “armed attack” standard requiring unanimous ally consensus. NATO has reinforced its eastern flank with forward deployments and enhanced readiness, reinforcing deterrence without triggering the clause. No major new escalations have occurred in the past several months that would alter this assessment. US force posture adjustments in Europe, including planned reductions, have been framed by officials as reflecting greater allied burden-sharing rather than diminished commitment, and they have not produced observable spikes in Russian adventurism against members. Broader risks involving China or other actors have not translated into attacks on NATO soil within the narrow remaining window. Historical precedent further supports the odds: Article 5 has been invoked only once, after 9/11, and subsequent crises have typically been handled through Article 4 consultations or bilateral measures. The short timeframe to year-end and the absence of verified developments pointing to an imminent threshold-crossing event underpin the current trader consensus reflected in the market pricing.
